The pronounced verticality of the backrests is softened by an inset wool panel in ochre-mustard, whose central stripe seems to ripple down the spine like a textile column of light.

Attributed to a French atelier working in the spirit of postwar modernism, the chairs embody a Brutalist elegance. Their silhouettes suggest both the ecclesiastical and the architectural—recalling the austerity of monastery furniture, tempered by the warmth of domesticity.
